We love all kinds of training. Our unique training system, PE5, is specifically centred on balance and developing all of what we call "The 5 Pillars of Physical Competency" simultaneously. After all, what is the point of strength without the mobility or athleticism to use it?
However... when it comes to competition, we are first and foremost, powerlifters!
Our moto "technical perfection over all else" forms the basis of our approach to training. At its core, this philosophy means paying close attention to the fine details. Performing well in training, or in competition, relies on a wide variety of factors aside from just knowing what to lift. Diet, sleep patterns, stress, mobility, knowing how to warm up, understanding RPE and much more, all effect physical performance.
To us, this is why coaching has to be more than just numbers and %s and true personalisation of programming, is the key to success.
We like to take an educational approach to coaching so that you understand WHY we ask you to do what we ask you to do. This helps you know what feedback we need to build the best possible plan for you.
If you decide to compete, we'll be with you through prep, and right there with you when it comes to the big day. From learning the rules and lifting to commands, to peaking perfectly to perform at your absolute best when it matters, we understand what it takes to prepare for competition. We're also experts at managing comp day, and we'll take care of everything!
So all you need to do, is lift!
Whether you're a world champion, or have never been inside a gym in your life, we can help you improve an already great total or start at the very beginning and go from there.
We're very proud of our powerlifting team.
2024 was a great year for Team Strength Lab. We ended the season with:
2025 promises to be even better. Champions will defend their titles, beginners will step on platform for the first time and more records will be broken.
Learn to lift with precision from coaches who actually compete and coach at a high level. Detailed technical guidance, individual form breakdowns and practical corrections to help you lift stronger, safer and more efficiently.
100% custom programming, backed by years of experience working with lifters of all levels, and all ages.
From complete gym beginners to champions, from teens to masters lifters, we'll build the perfect plan for you.
Bringing it all together on comp day is, for many, the most stressful part of powerlifting.
Let our expereince take all the stress away and let you focus on what matters - lifting!
We are primarily developmental coaches and we have a proven record of success.
Some powerlifting coaches will work with only the best, most naturally gifted, athletes. Some directly seek out already accomplished lifters to bolster their roster. We mean it when we say we will make you better whatever level you are at when you start with us.
We have had lifters come to us already with a 200kg bench and made them better. But we've also taken lifters from not being able to squat an empty bar to depth, all the way to the Irish Pro.
We specialise in taking intermeddiate/beginner lifters from nowhere to winning national and international championships and breaking records.

With 10 years of competitive powerlifting experience, Jason brings a wealth of knowledge from both sides of the platform. A referee and international competitor, he has competed across several countries and achieved success at the highest level — World Champion at both Open and Masters level, as well as British and European Champion.
Having held British and World Records, Jason combines elite competitive experience with a detailed understanding of technique, programming and performance. His goal is simple: to help every lifter become stronger, more technically proficient and more confident on the platform.

Sylwia’s powerlifting journey began almost by accident, shortly after becoming a mother and recovering from appendicitis. When the President of the federation asked her to compete at a competition she was hosting, she stepped onto the platform — and never looked back.
Since then, Sylwia has become an international-level lifter, competing at the 2025 European Championships in Poland. Other highlights so far include finishing 2nd at the British Championships while 12 weeks pregnant and taking home Best Lifter at her most recent competition.
Her journey gives her a unique perspective on balancing training, family and the challenges life can throw at you — while continuing to perform at the highest level.
September 2020... gyms had just re-opened. Lots of people were still unsure how they felt being around other people after months at home and gyms across the country were still adapting to new Covid-19 protocols put in place by the government and UK Active. In the midst of these uncertain times, Strength Lab hosted the first post lock-down, federation affiliated, open, powerlifting competition in the UK.
A no-show at weigh-in lead to the president of the A/BPU offering Sylwia a last minute opportunity to compete. At Strength Lab we always try to lead by example. So she borrowed a singlet and some knee sleeves (never having put knee sleeves on before) and went for it.
Sylwia had only squatted on a mono lift once before. She'd never lifted to commands before. She had no preparation of any kind! She had also given birth to her first child just 11 weeks prior AND suffered a ruptured appendix a week after that!
So, 9 weeks to the day after being on a respirator, in a medically induced coma post appendectomy, she stepped on to a platform for the first time - loved it, smashed it and qualified for the ABPU British Championships 2021. Despite having to breast feed between deadlift attempts! 😮🤣
If you're looking for motivation postpartum - look no further!
